Wow! I have been absolutely captivated by watching world class athletes perform at the 2018 Winter Olympics. I am inspired by their courage and risk-taking efforts, and the way they challenge themselves to go beyond what they or anyone else thought was possible.
I am present to the belief, and “the story”, that anything is truly possible. This inspires me!
In fact, as I was hearing several of the athletes being interviewed, I observed a similar theme that occurred amongst them; in spite of the multiple horrendous injuries and setbacks they experienced (Penny Coomes, for example was told by her doctor that she would never skate again when an injury shattered her knee in 8 places), they decided to not listen to the beliefs and stories that others and their past experiences indicated.
Instead, they created their own story, one that lives in the impossible, or even the miraculous, and to dedicate their lives to think and act inside of their new story.
“We all have stories we tell ourselves… We tell ourselves these stories because they allow us to excuse our actions and they allow us to pass off the responsibilities for things we have done, but anything other than the decisions we have made. . . There are times in our lives that we have to realize that our past is precisely what it is and we cannot change it. But we can change the story we tell ourselves about it, and by doing that, we can change the future.” ~ Eleanor Brown, The Weird Sisters
What Story Are You Telling Yourself?
There are other “real” stories that we tell ourselves. Making the choice to believe these stories has great impact – because we become those stories. Our financial situation, our physical state of wellness, our relationships, our business and our overall happiness are all impacted by these stories.
By committing ourselves and bringing our focus to the stories that are in alignment with who we are and our desires, we literally create the reality of our dreams.
I invite you to ask yourself:
What story am I saying about my business right now? My staff members? My boss and colleagues? What story am I saying about my relationship with money? My spouse/partner? My family members?
Are you ready to write a new story about an area of your life, a relationship or a circumstance that you find unfulfilling or feel resigned about? I challenge you to give it a try and see what happens.
Regardless of which story you choose to believe, the uplifting and empowering one that says you’re in charge, OR the negative one that says you’re a victim of circumstance…..remember the Universal Laws of the Universe guarantee one thing: either way, you’ll be right!
The decision you make will be the future that you create!
